Journalism
Welcome
NUI Galway offers courses in journalism at both undergraduate (BA) and postgraduate (MA) levels.
The BA with Journalism offers students the opportunity to complete a BA in two Arts subjects, in addition to their study of journalism. Intertwining practical and reflective work, the third year of this four-year programme is dedicated to practical journalism work, grounded in reflective practice.
The MA in Journalism offers an intensive 12-month programme (or part-time 24-month programme) that focuses primarily on journalism practice, including two semesters of course work and an internship, with students also completing a research dissertation. The MA in Journalism for Practitioners offers a part-time programme (over 24-months) specially tailored to current practitioners who wish to gain additional skills and qualifications in the field.
NUI Galway has recently announced a new scholarship, worth €6,000, for a student on the MA in Journalism, the PJ Mara Scholarship in Journalism http://www.nuigalway.ie/postgrad/scholarships/pj_mara_scholarship.html.
In 2016 applications will be accepted until 30th August, 2016.
