Dr Jamie Goggins

Dr Jamie Goggins is the Co-Principal Investigator of the project

Jamie has over 10 years experience in consultancy, construction and research. Jamie's research activities spans a wide range of areas, including in the fields of structures, earthquake engineering, sustainable construction technologies, sustainable energy and life cycle assessment. Over the last three years he has secured over 600,000EUR worth of funding as Principal Investigator for research projects, in addition to receiving funding as a collaborator for on a EU FP7 project (worth 250,000EUR). Jamie is a chartered engineer and has worked as a consultant on both national and international projects. He has also worked as a site engineer and project manager in both Australia and Ireland. He collaborates with both industry and international research institutes on many research projects. He has won awards for both his research and teaching activities. He is actively involved in the engineering professional body in Ireland, Engineers Ireland, and together with his students undertakes many outreach activities with the local, national and international communities.

Dr Le Chi Hung - Postdoctoral Researcher

Postdoctoral Researcher

Dr Le Chi Hung is a postdoctoral researcher working in the project.

Hung obtained a MEng degree in Civil engineering at Dong-A University (DAU) in South Korea in 2008. Thereafter, he worked as a Civil Engineer in Jinyoung ENC Company in consultancy and construction for 2 years before returning to the doctoral program at DAU. He completed his PhD program in Civil Engineering and worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the same university for one year. Thereafter, he worked as a manager in the Civil Engineering Team, Global Engineering Technology Company in Seoul, South Korea until 2016.

Hung’s research activities is primarily in the area of the Geotechnical Engineering, including foundations for offshore wind turbines (suction caissons, monopiles), foundations for buildings (deep foundations, shallow foundations), soil improvement, and site investigation (CPTu, SPT). Hung has published over 20 publications in international conference proceedings and peer-reviewed journals. Hung has conducted peer reviews for approximately 5 international journals in his research area.

Hung currently works as a postdoctoral researcher at the OPTI-SDS project funded by the Irish Environmental Protection Agency at the School of Physics and the Department of Civil Engineering, National University of Ireland Galway. The project aims to investigate the effectiveness of the Active and Passive Soil Depressurisation Systems (SDS) to minimize the indoor radon concentration for Irish homes.
